Manroland helps expanding Aussies steal a march

Australian-based folding cartons printer Colorpak gets a new ROLAND 700 press for its expanded Melbourne plant

Shortly after Colorpak announced it would centralize its Melbourne operations in its newly expanded Braeside plant in pursuit of bigger objectives, it ordered a brand new six-colour ROLAND 700 HiPrint with double coating press.

Colorpak aims to become the largest and most modern folding cartons plant in Australia and its Melbourne facility alone is targeting a turnover of $90 million of folding cartons per annum.

To help achieve its goal, the company turned to Manroland and purchased its 13th ROLAND 700 press – the latest chapter in a continuing partnership.

Founded in the 1920s, Colorpak Limited has 770 employees in supersites in Sydney and Melbourne and a smaller factory in Auckland, New Zealand. It specializes in folding cartons for various industries, such as pharmaceutical, healthcare, food and beverage, fast-moving consumer goods, confectionery, cosmetics and wine.

Adhering strictly to the Good Manufacturing Practice throughout its operations and holding internationally recognized certifications, (including ISO9001, HACCP, and GS1), Colorpak has been providing high quality service and products to customers since the mid eighties.

Commenting on the new purchase, Managing Director of Colorpak, Mr. Alex Commins, said:

“Technology is one of the key factors to success in the challenging packaging printing industry today. Our experience of over 25 years tells us that we have to keep up with advancements in technology. The new press will provide us with more innovations, faster make-ready time and better ways to handle any production issue. With the strong long-term support of Manroland, we are confident that we will create the largest and most modern folding cartons plant in Australia very soon.”
