Shinkosha president outlines Manroland’s winning formula

Mr Shintaro Fukada, president of major Japanese print company Shinkosha has praised Manroland’s contribution to his award-winning company’s ongoing success.

Based in Tokyo’s Shibuya district, Shinkosha is one of the major players in Japanese commercial printing and micro-run publishing printing market and a winner of many awards including CIP4 International Print Production Innovation.

The company owns three Manroland printing presses, including one four-color ROLAND 700 DirectDrive delivered only last year.

Pointing to the importance of shorter makeready times especially for publications and commercial jobs with high-mix, low-volume production, Mr Fukada said:

“I’m happy with the ROLAND 700 DirectDrive, it helps us process a record 100 jobs in 10 working hours!”

Mr Fukada also spoke about the importance of recognizing machines’ potential capacity and keeping presses occupied and running as much as possible. He said:

“It’s not always easy to obtain substantial profit with older machines, but thanks to the leading technologies and perfect system services from Manroland, we made it!”

Another key factor in Mr Fukada’s winning formula was the need for superior quality and productivity. He said:

“You should not only let your customers know how fast you are, but also how good you are. Many printers using other presses have asked us how to print such sample without ghosting.”

The fourth and final part of Mr Fukada’s winning formula was the power of Manroland’s Printnetwork in future-proofing and maximizing efficiency:

“CIP4/JDF has already been incorporated into the designing concept of the ROLAND 700 press. Thanks to the futureproof function, the existing machine can also be upgraded afterwards so that we could organize CIP/JDF networking even on our existing two ROLAND 700. This has further improved our production efficiency.”
