Second Evolution for Benelux publisher

Die Keure in Bruges (Benelux) invests in two ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION presses

The award winning ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION series with DirectDrive technology, launched last November, was selected not just once but twice by leading Benelux print company, Die Keure, after a partnership spanning more than 30 years with manroland Benelux.

Founded back in 1942, die Keure operates in offset, digital and screen printing as well as finishing. Initially specializing in Government printing, the company has gradually evolved towards a printing-publishing company with an emphasis on educational, legal and business-economics related publications. In addition, Die Keure enjoys worldwide recognition for the production of high-quality art books for renowned art galleries and museums and is also engaged in high-quality commercial printing.

Die Keure CEO Alexis Bogaert “Just being "good" is not good enough. At the pre-press stage we get the very best out of every picture or image, especially with art publications, where we excel. We want to see this extra effort reflected in the quality of all our printed material and this is where Manroland makes the difference; printed matter produced by a ROLAND press provides that little extra. This is what we, and our customers are looking for.”

Die Keure had previously owned a five-colour Manroland press with coating unit and an eight-colour press. Alexis Bogaert explained “The reason we started to look for new presses had nothing to do with the printing quality of our existing machinery. This was and still is ‘best in class’. It had merely to do with the make ready time on the machine. Five years ago this was OK, but due to an increase in the number of assignments, we reached a bottleneck and simply had to do it faster and more efficiently.”

In its search for two new presses Die Keure was free to choose any manufacturer. Alexis Bogaert said “We are not tied to any one manufacturer and even though we have worked with manroland Benelux for 30 years with great satisfaction, we decided to review all press suppliers. We examined the different presses and reviewed each press manufacturer thoroughly, especially their vision for the future and efforts in terms of R&D, which were all decisive factors. Once again, manroland Benelux came out as the best player.”

The new five-colour ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION press with coating unit has already been in production for a few months and one of the existing eight-colour presses will be replaced by a ten-colour ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION perfecting machine.

Alexis Bogaert: “The make ready times of the press make a world of difference. I’m not only talking about the washing and the plate changes, but also about the speed of starting the next order. The InlineColorPilot colour measuring option continuously adjusts, resulting in a stable press once we are running the order. We now also print 100% alcohol free, which again is better for the environment. It goes without saying that, despite the rather difficult period Manroland experienced in past times, the company continues to invest in R&D. The ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION just proves this. What was already excellent has just got better.”
