Manroland Sheetfed welcomes record number of new trainees
Global producer of sheetfed offset printing presses, Manroland Sheetfed GmbH, has taken on more trainees than ever this year, with apprentice and student numbers rising from 25 in 2015 to 30 in 2016.
The new trainees, students and interns were welcomed to a 3-day introductory seminar in the Rhön by Manroland Sheetfed’s training team. Held at the youth hostel in Oberbernhards, this was the 18th seminar of its kind designed to help young people enter the company and master the new challenges of the working world.
As in previous years, the seminar focussed on the foundations of successful training. In addition to exploring team development and self-awareness, the new recruits were given detailed information about the company to help them achieve the goals they have been set. Of course, there was also time for a bit of fun with some outdoor sporting events.
Head of the training center, Matthias Derzbach (pictured bottom right) said: “These 30 young people, like their predecessors, will gradually develop into high performers over the next few years, helping to secure the future of Manroland Sheetfed.”
More students joined the apprenticeship programme in 2016
Following the seminar, there was a 2-day tour of the company, during which time the new trainees, under the direction of the 5 trainers, became acquainted with the company in Offenbach, which employs more than 850 people.
Visiting all departments, they learned about the respective areas of the business, were greeted by the department heads and briefed on current topics with short presentations.
In Offenbach, Manroland Sheetfed trains young people in a wide range of professions including: media technologists - printing, electronics, foundry mechanics, industrial buying, industrial mechanics, mechatronics, technical engineering, mechanical design, technical product design, machining mechanics and pre-press media design.
