First ROLAND 706 EVOLUTION installed in Kazakhstan
On 15th September 2017, "Intellservice" a printing house in Kazakhstan opened its doors to printing industry specialists from Russia, Kazakhstan and Ubekistan. The installation and production start-up of the new high-performance printing machine was a momentous event, generating lots of interest.
The guests visited two of the production halls, one with packaging production line and one with book production. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the new ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION, a 6 colour offset printing machine with coating, installed in the summer of 2017. During the demonstration, the attendees viewed first hand print technology innovations and to watch details of the printing process such as changing of the printing plates, set up and production runs. Mr. Jaroslav Taranko, Manroland Sheetfed's representative, Ms. Lydia Müller and Ms. Maria Judt, representatives of sales partner VIP Systems GmbH were present, and took part in the meeting with the printing specialists during a successful machine presentation. Intellservice started business in 1991 to produce different kinds of printing products for the advertising arena. During the last years, “Intellservice” became one of the biggest and most prominent printers in the region and specialized in the production of metallized card-board packaging, chrome cardboard packaging, matted corrugated cardboard packaging, books, magazines, commercial printing, calendars and many more. “Intellservice” also initiated differentand complicated printing projects in the area of packaging and label printing on a high quality level. The delivery of printed products could spread out to almost any city or town all over Kazakhstan. The new ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION meets the targets set for the “IntellService” production team by the company's management, and is an important step in the implementation of a comprehensive development plan. The Machine is mounted on a pedestal, has a special enlarged format of 790 x 1050 mm and offers lots of new possibilities. The machine is equipped with an automatic sheet inspection system (the ROLAND InlineInspector 2.0) with electronic masking (Quality Mask) and comparison with PDF-files, that ensures highly efficient assessment of the quality of the printed products and helps to settle the potentially contentious questions with the customers. The production potential of printing presses is constantly growing due to the increase in the maximum printing speed and ever increasing number of printing sections on one press. Simultaneously with these conditions there is a growth of the responsibility of the printer for the correctly printed order, for the lack of color variations of the impressions throughout the whole run. One of the criteria for getting a positive result for potential customers in this situation is the use of a sheet inspection system with automatic error detection on the printing presses. The main advantages of the ROLAND InlineInspector 2.0 are: two times increased resolution of the cameras for sheet inspection; comparison of the printed sheet with the original pdf-file; electronic masking and time saving for the transfer of the order data. How does this happen? The customer’s PDF file is uploaded in the printing press control panel computer. The Subscription sheet is compared with the PDF image. The differences between the subscription sheet and the PDF are evaluated by the printer and/nl-BE/or the customer and are marked as "acceptable" or as "unacceptable". During printing, each printed sheet of the run is compared with the subscription sheet. ROLAND InlineInspector is an excellent marketing tool for the sales team of the printing house. The tool reduces the waste, ensures total quality control (color variation, hickeys, scratches, etc.), eliminates the rate of complaints, reduces the number of waste and saves operation time for the necessary actions during the work of the printer. It is also a tool for the optimization of the control criteria by means of establishing of a mask, or masks of the control areas and control level. The ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION was launched by Manroland Sheetfed at DRUPA-2016 and today the press is the “flag-ship” of the company.. The machine has attracted the attention of printers from all over the world since it embodies many technological developments designed to provide printers with unprecedented conditions for efficient, productive, reliable and high-quality work. The new features of the ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION include a new design of the central control panel with touch screen operation; a new lifting mechanism for the feeder pile that reduces the amount of waste; a new brake mechanism to slow down the sheet in the delivery; a fundamentally new dampening unit; print cylinder and transfer cylinder bearings, which significantly reduce vibrations; and also the possibility to use comprehensive software for efficient control of the washing cycles of the ink units that further increases the level of the efficient usage of the equipment. The ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION minimizes the setup time and material costs at changeover from one job to another, because changing of the plates, washing of the blankets and cylinders, adjustment of the control and monitoring systems can take place almost simultaneously. productivity and print quality and simultaneous reduction of the production costs. It is by far not a complete list of all the innovations in the ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION. But even this overview is enough to acknowledge that with this machine a new generation of printing machines has been created. Of course, it has been appreciated immediately by the market. Since its introduction in the “Print Technology Center” in Offenbach (Germany) more than 500 print units have been ordered. The machines have been delivered to the European and Asian markets, both for packaging printing and for commercial printing. Machines of the series EVOLUTION already work in Germany, North America, Japan and Brazil. Among them are several "long" printing presses with a perfecting unit, which customers had acquired. During the first year of its presence on the market ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION received the prestigious “Red Dot Award” in the category “Product Design 2015” - one of the most respected rewards in the world. It is considered an analogue of the “Oscar” reward for industry, it is awarded for creativity, innovation and originality. The prestigious “Red Dot Award”, world reward in the field of technical design, is awarded yearly by the European institute “Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen (Essen, Germany)”. The 2015 jury of the reward, which included 38 specialists in the field of design, received 4,928 applications from 56 countries. It should be mentioned, that printing presses have not received such a reward for many years.
