Print for Profit
360° sustainable profitability – Manroland Expo 2018 in Ningbo is a great success
In today's fiercely competitive print market, how to get ahead has become the No 1 focus for Chinese printers. Manroland Sheetfed’s philosophy of profit guarantees survival was addressed at their ‘360° sustainable profitability’ Manroland Expo 2018 in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province.
Over 120 guests attended the two-day event, which was divided into several sessions. Day 1 included a seminar, the opening of three exhibition zones and a thank-you dinner; Day 2 featured a forum and a visit to Ningbo Jinchen Color Packaging Printing Co., Ltd for a live demonstration of Manroland’s advanced printing equipment.
On hand to meet the guests were the management team led by Mr. Kurt Herrmann, Managing Director of Manroland Greater China; Dr. Peter Conrady, Head of Global Sales of Manroland Sheetfed GmbH; Mr. Samuel Tam, General Manager Sheetfed and Corporate Marketing, Manroland Greater China; Mr. Roy Xu, Head of Services and Spare Parts; and Mr. Thomas Luk, Head of Printing Supplies. No effort was spared as the Manroland team assisted the customers in finding the best way to improving efficiency and profitability at less cost.
“The question of how to survive and develop has become one of the hottest topics among the print companies" said Mr. Herrmann. “After analyzing relevant sales data in Greater China, we shared with our customers the latest technologies and the new investment trends with the aim of supporting them in achieving sustainable profitability and a better future."
Dr. Conrady shared his insight into the development trend of the global printing industry. He pointed out that at present the consumer market is undergoing tremendous changes. More attention is being paid to environmental protection, he said, increasing demand for user experience. In response to current trends, Dr. Conrady urged Chinese printers to focus on innovation and try to improve their service capabilities.
A team of consultants, headed by Mr. Tam, introduced Manroland solutions in detail, including cost reduction, new printing process and improved efficiency. Sustainable profitability can be attained by increasing productivity, adding value to the product, and reducing operating costs, waste sheets and make-ready time. It's important to improve production, the infrastructure and the process.
The seminar was followed by the opening of three exhibition zones, each of them offering solutions to customers depending on their specific needs. These zones were printing technology, service support and printing supplies. The Manroland team helped customers find the best solution to their problems.
- Print technology exhibition zone: the technical highlights of the ROLAND 700 EVOLUTION, ROLAND 900 and ROLAND 900XXL, as well as introducing various value-added printing solutions.
- Printing service zone: Manroland’s economic kit solution was presented onsite. Technical experts from the service field introduced Manroland's leading service products and service concepts. They also gave a demonstration of the ColorPilot color management system onsite.
- Printing supplies zone: there was a demonstration of Manroland's latest Crystal filtration system, a Q & A session about various issues related to printing supplies during print production and how best to implement green printing.
Manroland Expo 2018’s impact on the guests was immediate. After careful consideration and testing, Jiangsu Zhenghong Color Printing Co., Ltd decided to buy a new ROLAND 900 XXL super large-format printing machine. The press will be equipped with SPL (simultaneous plate loading). Its maximum sheet size is up to 1,300 mm x 1,870 mm. It's exactly what is needed to take the company to the next level. At the start of Day 2, the purchase order was signed by Mr. Dong Liubin, Managing Director of Zhenghong Color Printing, and Mr. Kurt Herrmann – providing another highlight to the event.
The signing ceremony was followed by the forum on ‘360° sustainable profitability’. Mr. Wang Jianhua, General Manager of Kunshan Kava Printing Co., Ltd, and Mr. Liu Ming, General Manager of High-end equipment department at Jiangsu Financial Leasing Co., Ltd, spoke at the forum about their experiences. Representatives from the printing companies, industries and Manroland shared their views on print for profit, the development of enterprises and industries, leading technologies and business solutions. Expertise and professionalism, they agreed, are crucial to business success. Through the wonderful case study and interactive sessions, the forum let each participant know more about the latest industry developments and future trends. This knowledge will help them find the best solutions for business and the best ideas for improving business.
