Girls’ Day at Manroland Sheetfed
It was a girls day out at Manroland Sheetfed GmbH in Offenbach when the company opened its doors to a group of female students in support of Germany's Girls' Day.
The 11 female students had an interesting learning day in the Print Technology Center; Manroland Sheetfed are experts in providing printing tuition for printing professionals and aspirants alike from universities, companies and research organizations.
The girls were given a tour of the training center where all the interns are trained. Under the supervision of experts, they also experienced how to mix the colors and print by themselves.
Girls’ Day at Manroland Sheetfed provided them with a deeper insight into the world of offset printing. They were surprised by the size of the presses and fascinated with the various finishing methods. "It was fun to see how an image is created by mixing the three primary colors," one girl excitedly said. Another girl added: "I had no idea how big a printing press is - something you do not see every day." They admitted that the impressive world-class printing technologies they saw firsthand at the training center broadened their horizon.
Dr. Oliver Sticht, Head of Human Resources, Manroland Sheetfed GmbH, said, “We are very pleased that the female school students enjoyed our training program integrating theory and practice, especially designed for them. Frankly speaking, there are few women in technical professions. Moreover, women are underrepresented in the printing industry. This is especially true for training professions such as media technologists specializing in graphic arts, industrial mechanics and electronics technicians.
"With long-term commitment to Girls ' Day, Manroland Sheetfed would like to correct this gender imbalance in the printing profession by providing young talents with professional training for media technologist printing, electronics, foundry mechanic, industrial management, industrial mechanics, mechatronics, technical modeler, technical product designer, foundry mechanic, machinist and media designer specializing in digital and print out.”
For students who are interested in the above training courses, combining theory and practice, in 2015, you can apply by contacting: office.ausbildungszentrum@manrolandsheetfed.com.
